[January 12, 2003 - 8:21 p.m.]
It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to...

This has definitely felt the least birthdayish birthday ever. I just don't really care. Meh.

(Thankyou for all the birthday wishes, though!!!)

My parents came over at lunchtime, and took C and I to a really nice restaurant nearby. It all went really smoothly. Mum commented on how tidy my flat looked! (In a surprised tone)

I told them about the career change (though not all the details...). Mum made a face when I mentioned the phrases "pay cut" and "not paying into my pension for a while". But eventually she warmed to the idea that I'd doing something I want to do, rather than doing something just for the money. My dad, bless him, handed me 30 for my "poverty fund" :-)

Last night's dinner with KT and her bloke was really nice. I got thoroughly lashed. KT bought me a really cute handbag :-)

The rest of today I've just been slumped in front of the TV. I feel a bit mopey again. Meh!!

Assuming I get my offer letter from the House of Filth in the morning post, I'll be resigning tomorrow. Oh yes! Cunty BossTM, you are screwed!! I'd like to see them try and find someone as fabulous as me to replace me ;-)

I've been considering offering to do contracting for them after I leave, for some extra money. The trouble with that, however, is that they're precious about their copyright and don't let anyone below department head level take work home with them. Ah well, their loss.

I have been cutting cost corners all over the place. I have reduced my gas and electricity bills by changing suppliers. Once I get paid this month I'm going to buy an annual travelcard, which means I'll save loads (monthly travelcard = 75.30; annual travelcard = 783; so that's 12 months of travel for the cost of 10-and-a-bit months, and I'll have that extra 75.30 in my pocket each month). Next weekend, I'm going to go to the Carphone Warehouse and see if I can get a cheaper tariff for my mobile phone.

See Laura economise! :-)

Ah, I should have done this ages ago, but still. I'm feeling more and more positive about my standard of living over the next year. No more Clinique face stuff or 45 haircuts on the King's Road, though...

I was thinking earlier: if I don't directly make my fortune in the porno world, I could still make a mint if I sold my memoirs, Catherine M style... ;-)

Miss anything?
